The AAIA is an add-on certification for experienced auditors: it proves you can audit artificial intelligence systems, from governance and risk to operations, controls and the tools used to audit them. It targets audit firms and internal audit teams facing AI projects. Its strength is to give auditors a method for a subject that regulators are scrutinising; its limit is that it is reserved for already-certified auditors and still young.
- Exam
- 90 multiple-choice questions in 2 h 30, scaled score from 200 to 800 with a pass mark of 450. In a PSI test centre or online with remote proctoring.
- Exam price
- $459ISACA member price; non-members pay US$599.
- Required experience
- Hold an active CISA, or a recognised audit or accounting designation (CIA, CPA, ACCA, ICAEW ACA and others) together with an IT audit or advisory role.
- Validity and maintenance
- 10 AI-related CPE hours per year and 30 over 3 years, an annual fee of US$20 (members) or US$35 (non-members), and the prerequisite certification kept active.
